Universal Genéve Dato-Compax Salmón ref.22246 de 1942
Universal Genève has a long and glorious history dating back to its creation in 1894. The company has played a very important role in the field of chronographs over the years. In 1927, Universal launched its first wrist chronograph, the caliber 17, and later gained international reputation thanks to the creation of innovative chronographs with useful applications in everyday life and in the professional field. The models with two pushers, introduced in the thirties, revolutionized the chronographic functions. The models that had the greatest impact were those of the Compax series.
From 1936 to 1944, the brand presented the Uni-Compax, Aéro-Compax, Dato-Compax, and Tri-Compax models, one after another. The main innovation of the Compax collection was its two pushers, which allowed for several consecutive readings without having to reset it each time. Then came an individually adjustable small second hand (Aero-Compax), the indication of the date (Dato-Compax), and specialized functions (Medico-Compax) with a heartbeat counter. The series culminated with the Tri-Compax, launched in 1944, which included indication of the day, week, and month, minute and hour chronograph counters, and tachymeter.
