Omega Speedmaster ref.145.012 with caliber 321 from 1967

The Omega Speedmaster Professional ref. 145.012 represents the final chapter of the original calibre 321 Speedmaster. Produced principally between 1967 and 1968, with some examples delivered in 1969, it immediately preceded the introduction of the calibre 861-powered ref. 145.022.

The calibre 321, distinguished by its column-wheel chronograph architecture and inseparable from the earliest years of NASA’s space program. The reference accompanied several Apollo astronauts, including Michael Collins during Apollo 11, while examples assigned to Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell were worn on the lunar surface during Apollo 14.

Aesthetically, the 145.012 established the familiar Moonwatch language: a 42mm asymmetrical steel case with twisted lugs, a stepped black dial with applied Omega signature, tritium hour markers and the period-correct “dot over 90” tachymeter bezel. Larger chronograph pushers distinguish it from the preceding ref. 105.012.

Today we’re offering the very fine example. The case remains sharp, preserving its sharp lines and original geometry. The bezel is beautifully intact, and the dial tritium lume shows a pleasingly even patina throughout. Perhaps most remarkable is the condition of the movement, very well maintained and working properly.
