Introduced in 1963, the Sandoz Depth Master was among the earliest dive watches rated to 1,000 meters. Its distinctive case—reminiscent of the Panerai Luminor, but without the crown-locking bridge—earned it the nickname “Baby Panerai.” The case was also used by several other brands, making it part of a broader family of watches built around this striking design capabilities.
A small detail I truly appreciate in this baby Panerai cases is the screw down "spring-bars" they make the watch so secure on the wrist and are a true functional feature from the tool watch era.
this example has a particularly compelling dial. The bright white hour markers stand out sharply against the dark background, while the Sterile dial keeps the layout clean and graphic without any luminous material besides the hands. Its modernist feel gives the watch a distinctive character, and, to me, makes this one of the best-looking dive watch dials ever made.
Fitted on a Italian hand-made strap in deer leather the watch holds its Skin Diver appearance of the vintage white tropic straps.
