Rolex Submariner ref.5513 E-Serial Full-Set from 1990
Rolex Submariner ref.5513 E-Serial Full-Set from 1990
Introduced in the early 1960s, the Submariner ref. 5513 enjoyed an extraordinary production run until 1989, becoming one of the longest-standing references in Rolex history and a cornerstone of dive watch design. Early examples featured lustrous gilt dials, later replaced by matte versions around 1966. By 1984, Rolex transitioned once again, unveiling glossy dials that carried the reference into its final years.
What makes this example so remarkable is its 1990 E-serial case — an unheard-of anomaly in the 5513 timeline. This piece appears to be one of the very last ever produced, a transitional ghost between eras. Accompanied by its original papers and bearing an untouched, crisp serial, the watch is a genuine time capsule, acquired directly from its first owner. Never altered, never polished, it’s a mysterious survivor — a 5513 that, by all accounts, shouldn’t exist.
