Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bombay Honeycomb Red ref.6092 from 1962
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Bombay Honeycomb Red ref.6092 from 1962
This Rolex reference 6092 gets its name from the French word bombé, which means rounded or convex, and was originally used to describe the accentuated lugs. The term was later Americanized and the lugs are now nicknamed “Bombay.” These watches are very hard to come by, especially in such good condition. This 14k yellow-gold example features a closed honeycomb texture and red "Oficially" writing on the dial. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly small 33 mm case size – it wears big on the wrist due to the long and curved nature of the lugs. With overall good patina, this might be best configuration of this rare bombay watches. Similar features in a vintage Datejust 6305 would be close to $40,000 USD in the market.
