Rolex Day-Date 18038 "Birch Wood" de 1982
Rolex Day-Date 18038 "Birch Wood" de 1982
Burl or Burr wood is an excrescence on a tree, often in the form of a knot, these knots are caused by a deformed growth. It may look unappealing on the outside but magnificent on the inside: instead of perfect growth rings, the grains twist, spiral, and swirl each in its way creating a unique pattern of wood veins.
There are five versions of the Rolex wooden dial composed of different woods, including Sequoia, Mohogany, Birch, Madrona, and Walnut. In the Birch or Madera de Abedul version in Spanish, there are two variants, the gold "gilt print" text and the black "black print" text, with the present watch being the rarer variant composed of a light-colored wooden dial and black text. This reference 18038 piece has a unique quick-set function (calibre 3055) and an 18k yellow gold fluted bezel. The 36mm 18k yellow gold case has never been polished before, and the watch is in excellent conservation conditions.
