Rolex Texano ref.5100 Quartz Beta-21 White Gold from 1970

Everything is bigger in Texas… right?

This watch earned the nickname “The Texano” thanks to an old Rolex salesman joke — that only oil money could afford it. When it was introduced in 1970, it stood as the most expensive watch in the entire Rolex catalog. Big and bold, just like the Lone Star State.

Produced for only a short run before being discontinued in 1972 only roughly 1,000 examples where made, it is believed that only about 100 were made in white gold. A couple dial configurations exist, some far rarer than others. This particular piece  features yellow gold indexes.
