Rolex Midas ref.3585 White Gold Coral Stone Khanjar Dial from 1975
Rolex Midas ref.3585 White Gold Coral Stone Khanjar Dial from 1975
This extraordinary watch is believed to be the only example known in this exact configuration. Having appeared at auction on several occasions over the years, it stands as a singular outlier within the already rare King Midas lineage—quite possibly a unique piece.
Although the case measures 23mm, the sculptural architecture and substantial gold construction give the watch a presence that wears significantly larger, with notable weight on the wrist. Far from being delicate, it is unquestionably suited to a gentleman. The bracelet comfortably fits a 19cm wrist, thanks to a couple of custom-made white gold links specifically produced for this watch.
This example embodies everything collectors seek in a rare Rolex: white metal, extreme scarcity, and the most coveted of all stone dials—the coral dial. Adding to its allure is the Omani khanjar emblem positioned at 6 o’clock, rendered in a striking acid-green tone. This detail alone elevates the watch into true grail territory. Were this dial to appear in a Day-Date, its value would unquestionably exceed half a million dollars in today’s market.
Completing its exceptional provenance are the “R.L.” initials engraved on the caseback, executed in Asprey’s distinctive typography, identical to the engraving style found on Asprey-signed King Midas reference 4316 models. A detail that further reinforces the watch’s rarity, pedigree, and historical significance.
