Patek Philippe Ellipse Sigma Dial ref.3748 from 1974

The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse occupies a unique space, positioned between a circle and a rectangle. While its design is simple, its adherence to the "Golden Ratio" imparts a visually pleasing harmony. Introduced in 1968, the Golden Ellipse marked a departure from traditional shapes in watchmaking. This model also does away with the elongated lugs typically found on other watches, allowing only the strap's end to briefly interrupt the smooth lines of the case. The reference 3598, dating back to the early 1990s, is a smaller version of the Ellipse. Its 18k yellow gold case measures 27 x 32 mm, and with the inclusion of the ultra-thin caliber 215 manual winding movement, the watch retains an elegant, slim profile. The dial features a beautiful deep blue sunburst finish with applied 18k yellow gold pointed stick indices and matching 18k yellow gold stick hands. The timepiece is presented on a luxurious black alligator leather strap.
