The Girard-Perregaux Alarm 9490 is a rare and distinctive vintage watch that reflects the bold spirit of 1970s design. Produced between 1972 and 1976 in just 350 units, it’s highly sought after by collectors. The cushion-shaped stainless steel case, a hallmark of the era, measures 35.5mm in diameter and 40mm lug-to-lug, with a thickness of about 13.5mm. Inside beats the manual-wind GP Caliber 112, based on the reliable A. Schild 1931. Its standout feature is the sharp “cricket” alarm, made possible by an inner case that enhances the hammer’s strike and ensures strong audibility.
