The Tank Solo model emerged in the early 2000s as a more youthful alternative to the classic Tank Louis silhouette. A steel case, scaled proportions, and a quartz mechanism were some of the characteristics never before seen together in a tank.

Several special editions were subsequently launched, including the extravagantly designed Tank Solo cheetah print and snake skin, which did not gain much popularity. On the other hand, the Tank Solo Piano was the opposite, thanks to its unique design that perfectly evokes the Cartier design philosophy, once again innovating with the traditional opaline dial with black Roman numerals now in a new format with great depth that reminds us of the keys of a grand piano or musical scores.
