Cartier Tank Louis extraplate ref.96016 de 1969
Cartier Tank Louis extraplate ref.96016 de 1969
The Tank, an iconic model that simulates the shape of a World War II tank. A watch that was designed for gentlemen, sliding delicately under the shirt cuff.
This particular model is quite unique in using a mechanism that, in my opinion, is the thinnest movement that one can find in Cartier watches from this era. The calibre 21 designed by Frederic Piguet is the holder of the title for the thinnest hand-wound movement in the world for more than two decades. This movement has been used by brands such as Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe in watches from the 1950s and 1960s.
Another point to mention is the "Paris" signed dial, a detail of the most exclusive watches of the brand that denotes French manufacture of the dial.
The watch underwent a full service in 2017 by Cartier International Service.
