Cartier Santos Dumont Guilloché Ultra-Thin ref.15751 de 1991

Men used to wear fairly large pocket watches until Louis Cartier introduced the Santos in 1904 as the first purpose-designed wristwatch for men. The Santos not only pioneered completely reinventing the way we interact with our watches but also introduced a revolutionary aesthetic. Pocket watches that preceded it and many wristwatches that followed were round with fluid details. The Santos, on the other hand, had a strong and utilitarian aesthetic, with a square case and visible screws on the bezel. These design elements would be reintroduced almost 70 years later by Gerald Genta in the Royal Oak.
