The 2025 Cartier Privé Tank à Guichets in yellow gold represents one of the most intellectually compelling and historically grounded designs in modern haute horlogerie. Originally introduced in 1928, the Tank à Guichets was radically futuristic for its time, replacing traditional hands with a digital-style display revealed through two discreet apertures. Nearly a century later, Cartier revives this bold concept with remarkable fidelity and refinement.

Housed in a compact yet perfectly proportioned case measuring 24.8mm by 37.6mm and only 6mm thick, the new Tank à Guichets stays true to the brutalist, closed-dial architecture that defines the model. The vertically brushed yellow gold case gives the watch a utilitarian, almost architectural presence, softened by subtle polished bevels along the sides and around the apertures. The result is a watch that feels both severe and elegant.

Powering the watch is the new hand-wound calibre 9755 MC. The crown is returned to its historically correct position at 12 o’clock, reinforcing the connection to the original 1920s examples.
