In the period leading up to the Vietnam War, the Department of Defense revised its specifications for various watches, and ultimately settled on two main specifications: the MIL-W-46374 and the MIL-W-3818B. Here at RVM we have a watch from the second variant which is much more attractive under modern standards, these watches were built to be highly resistant to impacts and moisture, the ability to stop the seconds of the watch so that it could be adjusted with nuclear clocks for exact precision in combat logistics was a unique feature of this reference intended for higher ranking positions in the military.

Another characteristic of these watches is that the dial displays no text, this was a requirement from the navy to improve readability and is called by collectors a sterile dial.

The MIL-W-3818B reference in particular dates back to September 1964, which makes this piece a particularly early example of almost two decades of this model's execution.
