Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore ref. 25807ST de 1996
The history of Audemars Piguet and the Royal Oak is written in watchmaking tradition. In 1972, Gérald Genta designed a new watch that altered the norms on which the industry was based. Over time, it gradually helped to build a resurgence within Swiss watchmaking, firmly establishing a new appreciation for steel.
Twenty years after introducing the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet asked 22-year-old watch designer Emmanuel Gueit to design a more modern and masculine version of this iconic watch. The result was the Royal Oak Offshore, which the company announced at Baselworld 1993. The famous "Beast" 42mm reference 25721 was a bold and large watch for its time. At its launch, it was said that the original design that Genta had created for the Royal Oak had been destroyed. The acceptance of the concept was revolutionary, and the Off-Shore model turned out to be a huge success. Emmanuel designed a second watch in 1996, the reference 25807 ST, with the triple calendar complication.
