Seiko Credor Phoenix Alpinist ref.GCBR993 de 1999
In 1974, Seiko launched a new brand called Credor, which grouped together all of its "special watches," meaning those made of precious metals. Credor comes from the French word "Crête D'Or," or Golden Crest, likely influenced by Swiss watchmaking. This particular watch is extremely rare, as Credor made very few "Steel Sports Watches," and without a doubt, this is the most beautiful of them all. Its 38mm case is the perfect size, and its dial with Tritium indices reminds us of the Seiko Alpinist. Its highly legible design and technical features suggest a robustness never before seen from the Credor brand, giving this watch a certain charm. The caliber inside is an 8L75A manufactured by the Shizukuishi Studio, the highest quality department of the Seiko brand, where many of the high-end complications of the Credor brand are currently produced. This mechanism is basically a modified Grand Seiko 9S55 caliber. It was only made for 3 Credor references: the Phoenix and two Pacifique models. There are two features that stand out in this watch. One is its black "Onyx" cabochon that reminds us of Cartier watches, and the second is its Cyclops on the sapphire crystal, which reminds us of Rolex watches. In this watch, we find a unique design, a brand with a very rich history, a very fine and particular caliber, as well as admirable aesthetics and proportions.
